Constructing an Integrated Model of Ethical Decision Making in Counselor Education and Supervision: A Case Conceptualization
Full description
Ethical decision-making models serve as blueprints that guide professional counselors in systematically examining all factors involved in an ethical dilemma. This paper presents an integration of two different ethical decision- making models: The Practitioner’s Guide to Ethical Decision Making and the Intercultural Model of Ethical Decision Making. Furthermore, the authors applied this integrated model to a case scenario involving Jordan, a counselor-in- training, and Toni, a client who is receiving services at Jordan’s internship site. A detailed discussion is presented on (a) the integration of both ethical decision-making models, (b) potential ethical dilemmas with respect to the ACA Code of Ethics, and (c) identification of possible courses of action.
