Using the 2WHO-SCAN Mnemonic to Respond to Bullying Survivor’s Needs

Article 54

Full description

Given the frequency of bullying behaviors among American youth, it is likely that many counselors will encounter bullying survivors at one time or another. The authors created the 2WHO-SCAN mnemonic to provide a seven-step assessment and intervention process. Although no intervention plan can precisely describe what to do in every bullying situation, the 2WHO-SCAN provides an immediate, broad-spectrum assessment and intervention plan. The 2WHO-SCAN mnemonic is easy to memorize and has utility for counselors who work with youth in most settings including schools, agencies, hospitals, and independent practice.
