The National Center for Health Statistics reported data from the 2006-2010 National Survey of Family Growth indicating approximately 50% of first marriages end in divorce. Divorce rates were influenced by several factors including cohabitation before marriage, educational attainment, race, and age at first marriage (Copen, Daniels, Vespa, & Mosher, 2012.
